On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June 2014, more than 70 volunteers gave up their weekend and descended on our Centre of Excellence here in Burford to help give it a much needed facelift.

As part of the Big Weekend Makeover event organised by Behaviour Expert Jez Rose, we spent the weekend with a team that included gardeners, decorators and DIY enthusiasts carrying out maintenance, painting walls, and a garden transformation. We weeded, we cleaned, we sanded, we painted ( a lot!), we dug over gardens and jet washed patios, we planted new plants, cut grass, installed sinks, toilets and sorted through a lot of old furniture and items resulting in a clean, sparkly, fresh new look for the building – and uncovering 6 more rooms which are now clear and ready for the Contented Dementia Trust to train even more people on how to better understand and effectively manage those with dementia.
