We are delighted to announce the release for sale of our dementia care film, ‘Finding a Way to Contented Dementia’.

The film follows the stories of 6 carers talking about their experiences of looking after a family member with dementia. From the realisation that something was seriously wrong, the shock and uncertainties of diagnosis and how they struggled to find anything – for themselves or the person with dementia – to help them cope with the situation.

And they explain how finding Contented Dementia Trust and the SPECAL method helped them to understand dementia and how they could change their own behaviour to make an enormous, positive difference to their lives and those they cared for.

The film was made by Kate Sturgess and her filmmaker husband, Alistair Briggs. Kate cared for her father, Jim, who had Lewy Body dementia. Making this film was their way of saying thank you to the Contented Dementia Trust, for the difference they made to all their lives. As Kate says: “It meant Dad knew who I was, and importantly, who he was, right until the end of his life”.

The budget for the film was raised entirely through the incredible generosity of family, friends, clients and strangers. Money raised from the sale of this film will in turn go towards funding a much needed on-line dementia e-learning training course for carers – http://www.understandingdementiafilm.com

“I’ve watched all the (film) parts and it really is fabulous. Parts 4 and 5 are so enlightening and I felt afterwards like I wanted to tell everyone under the sun!”
